EXPANSION INTO A GLOBAL COMPANY
In 2005, Enea was commissioned by Design Miami to design the Garden Lounge, a venue for numerous events related to Art Basel Miami and Design Miami. After the legendary Superball Miami Heat celebrated their victory there in 2006, the project gained media attention and was left standing as a permanent installation, contrary to the original intention. Conceptually, the Garden Lounge was designed as a treasure trove where precious tropical plants found shelter. The aim was to raise awareness of climate change and draw attention to the deforestation of the rainforests. The concept stemmed from a political circumstance, especially since the U.S. had refused to ratify the Kyoto Protocol in 2001. The exclusive Design District was developed around this treasure trove. Increasing urbanization also sparked great interest in sustainable landscape architecture in Miami. Enea won numerous competitions and established a Miami office in 2005.
