The World of Geoffrey Bawa at Enea Outside In
Enea x Vitra Design Museum x Geoffrey Bawa Trust x Phantom Hands
Coinciding with the opening of the landmark exhibition “Geoffrey Bawa: Architecture for the Senses” at the Vitra Design Museum and the release of the accompanying publication, Enea Outside In in Zurich presents the Swiss premiere of the Geoffrey Bawa Furniture Collection by Indian furniture maker Phantom Hands. Discover a curated selection celebrating Bawa’s enduring design legacy, culminating in a conversation between Alessandro Marchesi, (Enea Outside In), Mateo Kries (Vitra Design Museum), Channa Daswatte (Geoffrey Bawa Trust), and Deepak Srinath (Phantom Hands) on 26 September.
Widely regarded as one of Asia’s most influential architects, Geoffrey Bawa dissolved the boundaries between architecture, landscape, and interiors. Originally designed for his projects in Sri Lanka, his furniture reflects the same timeless design language and deep appreciation for craftsmanship, natural materials, and place.
During Zurich Design Week, Enea Outside In transforms into a special exhibition dedicated to Bawa’s work. As the exclusive distributor of the Geoffrey Bawa Furniture Collection in German-speaking Switzerland, the interior design studio and store presents a curated selection of pieces in a setting where furniture becomes part of a broader dialogue between nature, architecture, and interior design.
At Enea Outside In, furniture is a natural extension of Enea’s Outside In philosophy, where landscape and interiors are conceived as one continuous experience, an approach that strongly resonates with Geoffrey Bawa’s own vision.
On 26 September, Enea, the Vitra Design Museum, the Geoffrey Bawa Trust, and Phantom Hands come together, bringing perspectives from landscape and interior design, museum curation and furniture making to a conversation exploring Geoffrey Bawa’s enduring legacy and its relevance for contemporary design.
