Residential
Villa Miami
Situated on beautiful Biscayne Bay, this residential tower is located in the evolving and exciting Miami neighborhood of Edgewater. The landscape design responds to the site’s genius loci (spirit of the place) by incorporating a plant palette of native Floridian sub-tropical species with large specimen trees which provide shade in the urban setting and thrive in the waterfront exposed site. The lush planting creates intimate gathering spaces that enhances users experience and frames the expansive water and skyline views. The warm wood decks and natural stone along with the vegetation compliment both the architecture and interior design to create one holistic project.
Upon arrival to the project site from Biscayne Blvd., a busy thoroughfare, existing mature native Mahogany and Buttonwood trees with large canopies provide shade and character to North-East 29th Street. Inspired by the character of historic Miami neighborhoods streets with very expansive tree-lined canopies, Enea carries this character and scale of the existing vegetation across the streetscape design by incorporating new mature native Seagrape and Buttonwood trees. The existing and new trees frame the views to magical Biscayne Bay as residents and guests approach the site.
The natural cobblestone-paved court at the building entrance indicates a sense of arrival after approaching from Biscayne Blvd. and evokes the character of a European plaza. Residents and guests are embraced by soft grasses with pink and coral flowering accents. Species such as Dwarf Pink Oleander and the native Muhly Grass create visual interest while shade is provided by the large specimen Seagrape and Madagascar Olive trees.
A Coconut Palm lined pedestrian promenade along the east and south edges of the site will integrate the project with the neighboring ‘Baywalk’ while providing recreational access to the Bay. Cozy seating coves are incorporated in the lush garden along the building to allow comfortable areas for people to gather and enjoy the breeze and scenery.
At the exterior restaurant terrace, a raised Ipe-wood deck allows patrons to enjoy elevated views through a filter of multi-stemmed native tree species including Pitch Apple and Simpson Stopper with their intricate from and character. These species with their intricate forms and bark textures will provide shade for the terrace. Cascading Golden Creeper and soft Fakahatchee grasses around the building footprint allows a natural base to compliment the iconic architecture.
